Help Honor The "Best in Class"

You know them:  the national CEO who has moved mountains to improve services; the board leader who bridges boundaries to get things done; the media person whose coverage of pressing human service issues made a difference.  The National Assembly invites you to nominate your candidates for these honors---The Essence of Leadership Awards.  The nominating process is fairly simple; you can read about by clicking here to download the application.

The honorees of the past have been and are the all-stars of the national nonprofit human services world----CEOs like David Cooney, David Liederman, Mary Rose Main, Roxanne Spillett, Bob Goodwin, Chuck Gould, and many other great colleagues over the years.  Stellar national board leaders like Oz Nelson, Frank Burnes, Geoff Boisi, Mary Burrus Babson, and Jean Galloway.  And media luminaries such as Jonathan Alter, Charles Osgood, E. J. Dionne, and Laura Sessions Step.   There is also an opportunity to recognize a public official who demonstrates leadership and perseverance on important issues, as the Assembly did last year with Rep. Thomas Osborne for his leadership on mentoring and other youth issues; and N.Y. Attorney General Elliott Spitzer for advancing the rights of people with disabilities.

The awards will be presented at the Assembly's National Leaders Summit on September 14, 2005 at the J. W. Marriott in Washington, DC (mark your calendar:  Summit, 1:00 - 6:00; awards and reception, 6:00 - 8:00).  But the people you admire or your organization and the field are indebted to can only be considered if they are nominated.  So, send us the best.

(Note:  A committee of volunteers will select the honorees.)
