As many as 70 percent of justice-involved youth have a diagnosable mental health disorder, according to the Mental Health and Juvenile Justice Collaborative for Change. Better Solutions for Youth with Mental Health Needs in the Juvenile Justice System encourages community-based treatment approaches and reviews the science on the connection between mental health and juveniles’ collision with the justice system.
