http://www.elabs10.com/content/2010001408/FebNews1_1.pngThe structured learning, encouragement and adult mentoring that young people receive through 4-H plays a vital role in their later achievements, according to a long-term longitudinal study under the Institute for Applied Research in Youth Development at Tufts University. The Positive Development of Youth: Comprehensive Findings from the 4-H Study of Positive Youth Development began in 2002 and was repeated annually for eight years, surveying more than 7,000 adolescents from diverse backgrounds across 42 states. The findings can point all youth development providers toward elements that are proven to play a role in later achievement.
