Register today for the National Human Services Assembly’s webinar series to learn more abouthow you can become a part of a major new initiative to reframe how the general public and policymakers understand our sector. As a participant in the webinars, you will learn about:

  • Framing: A breakthrough theory that draws on interdisciplinary research from neuroscience, anthropology, and communications, “framing” helps us understand how people perceive complex public policy issues;
  • The “Core Story” of Human Services: Exciting new research commissioned by NHSA and conducted by the Frameworks Institute reveals the “core story” of the human services sector. You’ll learn how this story is used to explain our work, as well as how “mapping the gaps” identifies where these values, metaphors, and narratives fail to resonate with the public;
  • New framing strategies: NHSA’s Reframing Human Services initiative includes the development of strategies that will help you, your organization, and the sector generate the public will essential to supporting human services; and
  • Tools and Resources:As a participant in the initiative, you will have access to free tools and other resources under development, and be part of the community of stakeholders already engaged in this important work.

These webinars are not “stand alone” events. They are an invitation for you to learn about thereframing initiative and join the ongoing conversation, as well as an opportunity to learn how you and yourorganization can benefit from the research and resources being developed.

This webinar will present the preliminary findings from the Frameworks Institute report, “Handed toThem on a Plate: Mapping the Gaps Between Expert and Public Understandings of Human Services.”
The webinar will focus on three main elements of the report: the findings from research conducted to identifythe “core story” of the human services sector, analysis of the “gaps” identified in howthe general public understands the values and metaphors embedded in the story, and discussion of potentialstrategies to “reframe” how the sector presents itself to the public and policy makers.Register for this webinar.
