Nearly 6.5 million U.S. teens and young adults are neither in school nor in the workforce

Casey Foundation finds that nearly 6.5 million U.S. teens and young adults are neither in school nor in the workforce. In the latest KIDS COUNT policy report, Youth and Work: Restoring Teen and Young Adult Connections to Opportunity,Percentage of Youth Ages 16 to 19 Who Are Unemployed (2011) the foundation says that employment among young people is at its lowest levels since the 1950s, forecasting their path toward chronic unemployment as adults without the skills needed for the 21st century.
