Medicaid’s “Blended Rate” Will Cost More for States

The White House is proposing shifting the costs of Medicaid and CHIP off of the federal shoulders onto the states by reducing the percentage that the federal government pays of each state’s Medicaid costs. Some experts claim doing so would be hard to set fairly and accurately and would likely force cuts to children, people with disabilities, seniors, and health care providers.
