Developing the Diverse Executive Talent Our Sector Needs

Although racial minorities make up 34% of United States population, less than 7% of nonprofits are led by a person of color. With more than 300,000 nonprofit executive positions to fill by 2016, it’s essential that our sector recruits top talent that represents the communities we serve.

In response to this need, NHSA’s Diversity and Inclusion and HR Councils worked with NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service to survey over 80 national nonprofit human service organizations to identify specific practices that will be most effective in achieving ethnically/racially diverse senior management teams.
