Ensuring Equal Opportunity in Public Education

Inequality continues to plague our public schools and one of the most harmful manifestations of this is that local school district funding – which accounts for about 50 percent of all public school operating costs – is allocated in a way that hurts poor and minority students.  Furthermore, federal policy has reinforced this trend, exacerbating existing inequality in education at the local level.  Read a series of four reports this issue by the Center for American Progress. 10/04/2010
